  • Coleman Max LED 115 Lumen - review

Bought this flashlight off of ebay (seller: tulsaemarket3) for $13.90 including shipping. Retails in Wally world for $20+. Took 4 days to get it via USPS.

Aluminum body - seems to be well made

    AA battery

115 Lumen LED - did some research and it seems that LEO type flashlights start around 90 lumen so thought this would be good.

Compared to my 9 LED 10,000 MCD light (roughly 30 Lumen) this thing is a spot light!!

I am thinking about getting more of these from the same seller.

I got a bunch of CREEs for around 10.00 delivered. They are 350 Lumen and use 2 AA batteries.

Where? You can't post something like that and then not give us a link or seller id or something :)

@Matt - it was your post that got me to looking at Wally World then I started looking at ebay, couldn't beat the price.

The only caveat is that it was NOT in original packaging. I took a risk.

Thanks computerguy!! It looks like it comes in 2 configurations (all included it looks like), one where you can use the CR123A battery and the other config where you can use 2 - AA, is that correct?

They are great on batteries and I use 2 configurations since I have several placed around the house. I have rechargable AA and the 123s

Well I found out not to wash your cree flashylight in your 5-11 front pocket. It worked for a bit afterwards but then died. It seems to have some complex wiring panel under the bulb with transistors etc. seems they dont take well to the H2O.

That stinks!! Have you tried sitting it in rice? Hear that works well for when you get a cell phone wet. I have had a couple of cousins do this and it dried out their phone and worked afterwards.

A while back I gave my Cree Flashlight a ride in the washing machine and then turned it on while it was wet. Bad move as there is a small circuit panel in there and the light is water resistant not water proof. Well even though I have numerous lights I really liked the little $10 light so I ordered another and yesterday it arrived. I forgot I had not ordered more surefire123 batteries at $21 for 12 http://www.surefire.com/Batteries so I told my wife we would need to bite the bullet and buy 2 from wallie world at $9. I got some eye rolls at the "tactical" greatness of my little black strobing flashylight knowing I have a few others that I had previously proclaimed as tactically superior as well:) ah well the eternal struggle of man and his toys! LOL

I went ahead and pulled one from the spare batteries on my rifle to put in the light before we left the house. THANK GOD I mean that!

We arrive in the walmart parking lot with my wife driving and were immediately cut off and had a older man in a white car squeezes between us and 2 other cars at about 30mph. After he passes us going the opposite direction he slams on the brakes and throws it into reverse almost taking out a pedestrian. He then throws it back into gear and drives as fast as possible around the lot and back our direction. I told my wife to stop the vehicle that he was coming back for a fight. Sure enough he comes up with his window down screaming at her but ignoring me until he stopped at which time I was in front of him. I shined the light in his eyes and in the "conversation" he stated he didn't know who I was, not realizing I was in the car as a passenger and he was mad because she had flipped him off (she didn't) and was there to take her on. He asked again who I was and I stated "the guy who is going to be sitting on you when the cops arrive because you are not tall enough to ride this ride, you need to leave".

He then moved as if he was going to come out of the vehicle at me and I flipped the light to strobe and directed it towards his eyes and he stated "what the F...?" I stated "that is you losing the tactical advantage and you need to drive away now". It scared him real bad and he left after a few repeated commands and the opportunity to regain his sight. I know everyone here understands where the other hand was. I hope he was just having a bad day and he cleans up.

My wife now understands and has decided them $10 lights aint such a bad deal to have close by. We discussed the fact that I was able to difuse the situation by using tools and tactics and that I have done this numerous times both personally and professionally. Again THANK GOD because there was no reason for anyone to die but it exactly that which happens and leads to it. Don't leave the house without the proper tools folks. Ideally I would have like for her to have been calling the police while I was containing this but things never go quite as planned.

Got bad news for you Matt. I went to the site, and it said that it has ended. Can't buy them any more, at least from there. Does anyone else have another link for them?
