  • Gear Review: Smiths Pocket Pal Knife Sharpener

My wife made the mistake of sending me to the store today. I buy everything she has on the list and then usually can find something I want/need. Technically it's not my fault because, well I'm a guy LOL.
While at the dreaded evil empire of wally world I saw the Smiths Pocket Pal Knife Sharpener. Being as I cleaned 6 deer recently my knifes were in dire need of TLC. It is very light and has three shapening areas, one for edging and one for smoothing it out and one for serations which I also found out works very well on the guthook area of my skinning blades. It made quick work requiring only a few strokes even on my most used knife.
The price aint bad $8 and some change. The only negative I can find which I didn't see till I got home is that it's made in china something I didnt think to look at because it was Smiths out of Arkansas which used to do their own stuff back in the day.
I also made one of my 550 cord attachments and put it on and dropped it into my cold weather multiple pocketed Burt Gummer vest (so says my smart elick son). While we at the store he said "hey you got a lighter" I said "yeah" (I dont smoke) he said "of course you do, your Burt" quoting lines from the movie without me catching on till it was too late. LOL Well I guess I am, guess there are worse things to be.
