  • Mylar Bags

I was looking at getting some mylar bags from USA Emergency Supply but the shipping cost is more than the product. 5 bags weighing 0.5 lbs would cost $10 in shipping but the product would cost less than $5.

Does anyone have a recommendation that doesn't cost an arm and a leg to get it shipped?

Flate Rate Snail mail is cheaper than what they are charging.

Here is where I buy all of my mylar bags from. I have purchased several times, and they have been quick to ship, with excellent service and fast to answer questions.

I think that the ebay vendor that you posted Denmother is the same place I order from off Amazon, they use the same pictures at least. http://cgi.ebay.com/10-5gal-Mylar-Ba...item4152b7026d Shipping through Amazon is $.01 and ten bags with 10 2000cc absorbers are $24.48. I have ordered several times from them and have been very happy. They ship USPS and I have always gotten the item within 5 days.

Just went looing 96th and yes, it's the same vendor! Very nice. As I said, good product, cheaper than most other places, and very fast ship. I buy the 1 gallon size bags from them (it's just me and hubby and we aren't the most physcally able people!) and the 6x6 inch bags. I use the 6x6's for my herbs and spices, they are just the right size that you can put the contents of an 8 ounce jelly jar full of spices in them for storage. In some cases they will hold up to a full pint, however, I store all my herbs and spices in the 8 ounce jars for use.

@Denmother, what do you store your 1gallon bags in after you fill them? Having no luck finding "free" 5gallon buckets at any of the local stores...

Try offering them a couple of bucks for them or check their dumpster. You could do like JWR does and put your mylar bags in metal trash cans :) Good luck. You could also try talking to one the people that handles the buckets and let them know that you will pay them $x for each bucket they set aside for you. Stores don't recycle them for the most part so you should be able to get some if not free for real cheap.
