One thing I like to put into our food storage, and we rotate it on a regular basis is Idahoan Instant Potatoes. We really like the Loaded Baked style, and I recently found a recipe suggestion in a sale ad, coupon paper.
The recipe calls for mashed potato cakes, and the twist is that they are coated in the Kikkoman, Panko Crumbs before frying up the cakes.
These sound rather tasty, and I really like potato cakes to begin with, so this will be a good time to try it out. I bought a box of the Panko Crumbs the other day, and figure to try it out maybe tomorrow since the wife had me lay out a pack of pork chops from the freezer into the frige to fix for supper tomorrow night.
Regardless of tomorrow or some day this coming week, I'm going to try this and let you all know how it turned out,
I'm thinking that it might work out as an excellent coating for when we make salmon patties as well, but I'll have to get back to you on that one later since we only do them up about 3-4 times a year.....at best.
Still, as soon as I do I'll get back in here on that one with the results. Should be pretty interesting for this recipe as well.
So check back here soon for my next post on this experiment. If it goes as good as I hope, then I'll be adding another item to our food storage in our Armageddon Pantry (still get a kick out of that one). :D
