  • Re Packing Mountain House cans

For some time now, I have been saving a lot of money on my camping meals, by repacking the large cans of MH, into vac bags. I usually get about 8 servings out of a can, and use the vac bags to reconstitute the product, just like normal. Pour in the boiling water, wait a bit, then eat.
Depending on the product, the savings can be huge, the convenience is still there, and you can set the portion size yourself.

Yep. I've personally never understood the people that only want to buy the pouches. Much higher cost for the product in the pouch versus the can. And the pouch has a shorter shelf life.

If you want to "try" a certain meal, then a single pouch may be helpful, maybe a few for the ruck along with some MRE's. Outside of those parameters, their is a few things available ONLY in pouches like the Ice cream sandwiches and the Biscuits and Gravy.

Some things like the Fire Roasted Vegetables, they are currently doing in LIMITED runs in #10 cans. We stocked up :)
