"One cannot but ponder the question: what if the Arabs had been Christians? To me it seems certain that the fatalistic teachings of Mohammed and the utter degradation of women is the outstanding cause for the arrested development of the Arab. He is exactly what he was around the year 700, while we have kept on developing. Here, I think, is a text for some eloquent sermon on the virtues of Christianity." - General George S. Patton, diary, June 9, 1943.

Very nice! Are the raised beds in the background yours too?

I like the irrigation, I wish I could do that at my BOL but its too far from the house.

I wonder how I could pump water through a drip irrigation system with twelve volt power?

The raised beds in the background belong to other people. Our garden is part of a larger community garden known as The Farm at Agritopia.

The plots are 20x20. Each plot has water from the farm's well plumbed to the plot. I built the irrigation system and put it on a battery operated timer. All total there are 24 plots. Some are better designed and kept than others. It's been a really good learning experience.

Not sure about your water pump situation. I am not much of an electrician but I have managed to avoid getting electrocuted when dealing with past electrical projects. I would look into what pump would meet your water pressure needs then get or create the necessary power supply to run it.

          nice looking turnips.
our gardening effort has been disrupted by too much rain and by too many conflicting efforts this spring...
we just added beans, zukes, squash and tomatoes..
          and.
          thanks for the pix too!

Thanks! Too much rain is not a problem we have here in AZ...unfortunately.

The turnips made for an awesome turnip mash with potatoes, bacon, green onions, and sour cream. AWESOOOOOME!

We didn't take pics. But weather rain...messed ours up. We got a full two gallon bucket of red taters ...spinach and lettuce daily. Have more taters planted...squash ...maters...egg plant and one full bed of beans and half of another. This will be our 1st bulk run of one veggie for canning purposes.
one of our pineapple plants has started to fruit....but that's a long way off LOL.
Made /planted more herbs as well. I need to take pictures.
Hey Petunia...you dropped your man pad!

Sounds excellent! I want get into canning which is why we took up the garden. Do you have any suggestions on boiling or pressure canning? In speaking with different people it seems that people like one or the other but not both.

I'll post a photo of a neighbor's garden. They really have it well organized. For a 20'x20' plot they have planted a lot of vegetables and fruits. They've really maximized the usage of their space.

$4 is a bargain! I've started hitting the garage sales here in Chandler & Gilbert. Found some good deals but got hit a lot of places to find them.
