Good reminders on things to consider with your food stores.

Just guessing, but if I'm right then don't feel too bad...I'm not even to the first part of that one.

DING DING DING we have a winner. Had money saved for a country living grain mill a couple of times but spent it on other things.

You win but are disqualified because you have the unfair advantage of inside knowledge. ;)

Been there and done that many times. What I did is I went a got a cast iron el cheapo....I think I did a video on it, I have 2 of them. I also got one of those $60 grinders like they sell on samsclub. So I got 3 total but I don't have a thousand pounds of wheat!!

I love number 8. I have a buddy who has a double axle trailer so weighted down with stuff the axles are bowed.

Another fail is to assume that when they say "Feeds two" it means, "contains enough food for two people." Most of them don't. I bought some freeze dried 'long-term storage' food. It came in a fairly large bucket. Not being the trusting sort, (i.e. been there, done that) I opened one of them. The large bucket was barely half full. I took out one of the packages that was supposed to serve two, and cooked it. It made enough for a decent sized sandwich. I guess I could have split the sandwich with someone else, but we would have been looking at each other with silverware in hand a couple of hours later. This is why I don't take anyone's word for stuff like that. Open it, try it out, and decide for yourself.
