Bates? They used to rock, but their quality has dropped incredibly in the last couple of years. Two days and the soles fell off...next pair lasted about 30 minutes.

    Nevermore.

Moved to Duluth Trading Co boots and have not had any issues in 18 months...and counting.

Strange, the last pairs of M9 boots I bought have held up like champs. They aren't made anymore and I'm not sure when they were produced. But the set I wore on duty has held up perfectly. Bought a couple of extra sets for deployment and since I haven't deployed they are still in the box. Guess I got lucky and got them before they went downhill.

That's ok. He has to have some gratification since his team will be playing in mid to late December next year while we are playing 2nd week of January.

Thanks for the update on Bates, I still have the pair i bought in prep for my stay in Iraq, I still wear them about 3 times a week, they are well worn but still good.
I still have a bunch of issue stuff that i didn't have to turn in, the new gortex insulates are great but don't dry them in the dyer. :)
The ACU rain coat is awesome!
The P.T. stocking hat more like a beanie is what i use in winter.
              I like my booney ACU,
The cargo on sale pants from LA gear are great.
otherwise i wear Lee painter jeans from clearance at JC Penny's
Summer i usually wear walmart cargo shorts.
Summer usually wear ACU T-shirt i have about 40 of them! if its cooler out i wear the BDU Brown ones i have about 60 of those although many are wearing out and becoming rags.
For normal every day I wear a 5 year old, resoled three times Mason cowboy boot, my 'morakniv' fits nicely inside.
Socks i have always wore the military ones, but have been experimenting with the Wal-mart ones and i to like the ones i picked up at Sams last fall but only got two pair!
I have Wiley-x prescription sun glasses, got them for iraq they hold up well and kept the sand out of my eyes.
I will not wear Crocks, i can not wear crocks, my younger boys wear crocks and I croak! :)

                canvas pants.
i'm looking for several pairs of "canvas" brithches that will last "forever"
in case it all really goes to heck in a handbasket..

a carpenter friend told me to try some canvas britches from ball room..
that phrase ball room ends with the word dancing in my mind..
so i didn't think he was serious and told him... that ball room dancing britches
was NOT what i had in mind.
he repeated himself several times and i repeated myself several times.
i didn't want no pants that were ordered from a place that sold things for ball room dancing.. no way they would be rugged and last for years..

he finally explained there is another explanation. ballroom jeans at duluth trading company.
