For rigatoni or penne type noodles, I empty the boxes into a five-gallon container with a gamma lid. If bugs might be a problem, I put it outside when it's freezing overnight. They keep for years, very saving of space to store them that way. The boxes they originally come in don't keep bugs out at all.
There are endless good ways to eat pasta, and they are a comfort food, too.

Well I for one want to thank everyone for their replies to this post, because I'm getting ready to start storing pasta for long term storage. I use basic boxed pastas and related items in a FIFO (first in first out) stock rotation method. except for spaghetti. We use it pretty regular around here, and I store about 5-6 lbs of it at a time in a plastic snack container that used to hold a CHEX MIX type snack mix. It's about 3" longer than the noodles, so it works perfect for that purpose. I have a few of them around, but am only using one at the moment.
Going to be seeing about geting some O2 absorbers in both sizes soon so I can start with mason jars, and work toward some more buckes for larger amounts asap.

I have heard that egg noodles will go bad. Does anyone know if there is any truth to that? As for storing dry spaghetti in mylar, try wrapping the plastic bag / container it comes in with heavy paper or light cardboard before vacuum packing or using Oxygen absorbers.
