i'm visiting a senior family member. the country's economic situation came up.

in the depression, her family ate and got by but no cash.

when someone went to the store, her mother, would hand over a nickle with instructions, " this is for a bag of
country gentleman. you know your dad will be calmer if he's got his tobacco."
a can of prince albert was a dime. but they could get a small cloth bag of country gentleman for a nickle.
when i asked how big was the bag, i was shown a shape about the size of a modest apple.

so, don't forget your comfort items!

Such a good bit of advice. My wife fusses at me for the occasional chew or pipe or even the rare cigar. Sometimes it just seems to bring about a little peace in my world.

This is a good reminder. Comfort items to include food like snacks, etc...; toiletries like lotions, colognes or perfumes, etc...Could be many things. It will definitely help psycologically.
