  • Dollar General Seeds

Folks, its that time of year again where the veggie and flower seeds are on clearance. You can get the normal 2 for $1 or 3 for a $1 for .03 and .05 cents.

I snatch the whole dang display everytime for less than $7.

Some stores have a different variety. I have now bought the 3 in my area out. I leave all the flowers except for the marigolds and nasturtium (sp).....

I seal these jokers air tight for later use and keep them in a nice cool spot.

If you area DG hasnt sold out, go snatch em up!!!

Hadn't thought about checking DG for seeds. I usually stock up on the .08 cent packets at our local Atwoods in the early spring. I'll check out DG. Thanks for the heads up!

      No prob.

I probably have over 200 packs just from the last 2 years. And to be honest, I think some strains are heirlooms.

With our government (and other world governments) in league with Monsanto I think one should have all the seeds they can gather. Aren't they usually marked heirloom WiseOwl?

I picked up some last month. Had trouble finding a DG that still had any.

Thanks for the heads up on this. The seeds were all gone but I did buy the 72 cell spring 6 pack with tray and clear plastic cover and the 36 cell packs with soilless mix and fert normally $4.50 each were 40 cent for 36 pack and 45 cent for the 72 cell so I bought all they had 14 so for $6 covered a few years worth of these...

My local HEB (food store, for people outside of Texas) had seed packs for 8 cents. stocked up on what i would use in the next 2 years cause they didn't mention heirloom or hybrid so i just don't know what they are.

Get yourself a seed catalog and compare them by name. Many of the el-cheapo seeds are cheap because they are open pollinated types, and therefore are cheaply and easily raised and saved. Hybrids require different and more expensive techniques. If you have Hale cantalope, california wonder peppers, golden bantam corn, red cherry or large red cherry tomatoes, rutgers tomatoes, or beefsteak tomatoes (plain beefsteaks), or blue lake beans they are open pollinated. If you want to save seeds start with tomatoes and beans of any kind, they are easiest and tend NOT to cross pollinate.
