Saw fishing line listed here but here's another use for it. Small gauge line and a curved needle can be used for stitching up a wound in one heck of a hurry. Fisherman's knot at the end will keep the stitches from unraveling.

My personal addition would be pounds and pounds of spices and herbs.
All those ready to use spice mixes in the baking and soup aisles at the store, all those just add water rice and
pasta or potato meals and soups those are the kind of things that I'm stocking in my use and barter storage.
You'll love me at the barter markets. Just another way to avoid Appetite Fatigue, when the fields are worked
with animals or by hand no one will want to spend all day cooking or be happy to eat another pot of beans out
of the firepit...

A big +1 on the spices. Dollar stores and discount stores are great places to get a lot of spices cheap. While they are not usually as good as the higher quality stuff, having some lemon pepper seasoning for your fresh trout (for example) is a great thing. We buy them by the case for around $10 and there are anywhere from 16-24 jars in them.

i used one today in the cold rain to do some work in the creek that is flooding. worked great at keeping me dry.
hats, rain gear, waders, clothes, socks, heavy coats.
warm weather and cold.
i think i'm going to the consignment shops.

Flour sifter (I vacuum pack my flour and it has to be sifted for baking)
Large over-the-pot strainer (for blanching, steaming, straining the lumps out of my gravy)
Cheap set of nested funnels (for transferring all kinds of liquids)
Canning funnel (for transferring dehydrated crushed herbs and dry goods to canning jars or other containers)
Soap-making ingredients: Red Devil or other brand lye (vacuum seal it so the can doesn't corrode), shortening (any brand), plastic soap molds, wooden spoons
Campfire coffee pot
I do some traveling for business and save all the little shampoo bottles, soap, pre-pack coffee, and shower caps (don't know what I'm gonna use them for but something). I bring my own shampoo and soap, and grab coffee in the lobby.

You can also get bulk spices through Amazon.com. I buy herbs and spices this way. They usually come in a 1 lb. quantity in a thin mylar bag. There are even organic selections if one wants organic. Last 1lb. bag of organic oregano leaf (this is a lot of oregano, lol) cost me $10.39 with free shipping. They even have a killer deal on McCormicks brand chopped dried onion in a 3 lb. container. Whole herbs and spices last longer than pre ground. Have several small spice/coffee grinders for herbs, spices, and seasoning. Many herbs can be grown as house plants or in pots.
If you like flavored coffees and teas but don't like the prices, make your own. Like mocha, add some cocoa powder to the coffee before you brew. In the baking section of the store you can find vanillia extract, almond extract, hazelnut extract, and many other flavors. You will have to do some trial and error to get the blend you like.
Our Ace Hardware has strike anywhere matches in their oil lamp section.
Many useful items in the accesory section of fabric stores. Two overlooked items are small oilers and cans of compressed air. The compressed air can be use in cleaning and drying many things from machines to dental cavities.
When I lived in town I would check in the fall for potted plants set at the curb for trash pick-up. The contents would go into the compost and the pots would be cleaned for reuse.

blister stuff.
i went on a trip where it was necessary to use dress shoes and huge amount of walking.
bad blisters started developing.
i learned about mole skin and a small patch for blisters that looked like an inner tube patch.. dr. sholls blister patch
pain stopped. damage stopped.
my first experience with mole skin.
we will be buying a large box of mole skin and and blister patch.
