I used round dehydrators for years before getting an excalibur. The round ones worked fine, but I found I had to rotate the trays for even dehydrating. The one round dehydrator I do miss is the Rommelsbacher brand one that I had in Germany. That thing dehydrated very well. :)

Q. Did you use fresh or canned pineapple? I can see benefits to each but would like to make a good choice first run. We really like dried tomatoes and greenbeans. On the beans issue we use three beef or chicken boullion cubes in about a half cup of water, pour the beans and boullion into a gallon ziplock, shake to fully coat the beans, drain off the juice and dehydrate, the added flavor and tiny bit of salt is excellent, I want to do Wasabi and other flavors with this years harvest.Do the right thing, because it is the right thing to do!

I found my dehydrater in my mother in laws shed, it had been there since the early 70's. It's a large tin box with a front flap and 12 trays, I think it's a "drybest" brand. It still works like a dream! I dehydrate almost anything eddible. check out this site ... dehydrate2store.com she has some fantastic advise and really good storage food recipes." Please excuse all my spelling and !?,;. errors. I wuz publik skoold. "

I picked up my Nesco American Harvester last Friday and did some chicken jerky last weekend. Also did some kiwi which I didn't care for. Too tangy. The bananas turned out good. If I can get to feeling a little better from this stupid sinus infection my hubby decided to share with me, I'm going to do some sweet potatoes. Those have to be blanched first. Thought I would sprinkle some sugar and cinnamon on them.

Early anny gift from the Mrs. was the NESCO Professional Food and Jerk Dehydrator.
ooooohhh weeeeeeeeee I am so happy right now!
Gonna get this thing cleaned and sterilized tonight and will do some apples and oranges tomorrow.
The one question is this, can you take this dehydrated yummy and pack n seal it in mylar for LTS, well 1-2 year storage at least?
After attending the canning demo over the weekend, I really want to wait until I have a new place with "my garden" before i can, so I think this is better for what I have now.
Matt, if I get a good batch of deer jerky, I may have to send you some just as long as you dont get crumbs in the manstachio.......LOLYou know what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like this?
