I keep 4 gallon jugs of ice and about a month's supply of various meats and frozen veggies. The food isn't for lts, we shop at SAM's club and by bulk meat and split it up using a food saver. It's survived 2 and 3 day power outages and remained cold (if you don't open it up too much). The plan is, in a long-term situation, to eat the first 3 or 4 days from the fridge and freezer before hitting the medium-term canned food in the pantry.

We store some ice and pop-sicles, mostly some of this seasons meats from hunting/fishing/road kill, and some freezer jam. Nothing that is a "prep".
We rotate and clean and clear it out every 5-6 months.
It was part of the bargain we all made, the reason we were so willing to die for one another. I cannot say where we are headed. Ours are not perfect friendships....

My freezer currently has some meat, frozen veg, a few frozen pizzas, and some extra butter in it. I'm saving space because in about a month it will have half a cow in it (the cow goes in to butcher on the 19th, so it will be the beginning of June when I pick up my half). It is an upright 21cf model. My chest freezer is smaller (about the size of a washing machine), and once I have it cleaned up and powered back on, it will get some items in there. Plus it is getting close to time to do some fishing, so hopefully enough fish will be caught to be able to get some put in the freezer. :)

The freezer on my fridge has some frozen convenience meals and some frozen turkey sausage. :)

Hello, I'm a new poster :waving:

This is a great thread. It's good to know that others share my multiple-freezer addiction :)
We have three large chest freezers. One holds fish and meat. One holds fruits, veggies, dairy items and pre-packaged meals (made by me, not by Swansons, for lunches and pickup meals). And the third stores seeds, nuts, meds, yeast, spices, beans and grains for a time until all critters are good and dead.

As I'm able, the freezer items are canned, dehydrated, pailed, or grilled outright. Items are rotated in left to right and bottom to top. That way all is used in proper order.

The second and third freezers also have jugs and bottles of water or sweet tea, jugs around the sides on bottom and bottles on top. And ice packs for our joints and booboos, and we go through those regularly :( I just don't quite fancy placing potable water in the same freezer with the meat and fish, ya know?

The kitchen freezer holds bread dough, pies, quickbreads, and miscellaneous items to be used immediately.

I sure learned some new techniques from y'all, and I hope I've helped someone else.

I only use my freezer for short time storage the day to day stuff bagged veggies , bread, butter, meat then about every three or four months if it's still in there I thaw it and either can it or dehydrate it. the freezer just keeps the stuff while I find time to process it properly.
