Food Lion stores closing- Canning supplies

If anyone lives near a Food Lion that is closing, the 50% off sale started today. I just cleaned out every mason jar they had and also picked up Wide and regular mouth replacement lids and rings. Employees told me they had been there for years. Stock up!!!!

I just wanted to thank you, Tinman, for posting about the Food Lion 50% off sale. Two stores near me are closing. I went around noon and got a TON of basic supplies: rice, dried beans and peas, spices, oatmeal, canned vegetables, OTC medicines, etc. Everything in the store (except for wine, beer, and tobacco products) is 50% off. I spent $100 and got $200 worth of food.

At noon, the shelves already had large gaps, and quite a few people were shopping. I drove by again at 5:30 and was shocked to see that the parking lot was FULL. My bagboy told me that he thought the store would be empty by this Saturday. (Now, imagine how quickly shelves would be empty in a SHTF situation.)

They are supposed to drop to 75% off, but unless they have ALOT of stock in the back ( which we know they dont) I dont see it happening. I overheard one guy say it looked like Zombie Apocalypse! It does make you think, especially about what else you may have gotten, had it been the last time you could go to a grocery store.
