Apples are usually on sale this time of year here in Michigan. Like to buy Galas and Honeycrisp (good eaters and they keep well) wrap each individually in a sheet of newspaper and store in a basket (I use clothes baskets). Should one rot the paper contains it. Read where apples store best at 32 degrees. I put them in the garage (it's not heated but insulated) and they will keep into Mar. or so.
