Filled my first 30 gallon barrel. Added 2 ounces of bleach when I started filling the barrel and 1 more ounce when I was finished. I filled with a tea pitcher, which was time consuming but I did not want the rubber hose taste added to the water. I would like to find a different method to fill the remaining barrels. Anyone have any ideas?

hmm not sure, do you still think the rubber hose taste is going to be there after being stored that long or that it will matter if it comes down to it?
I would fill one, let it settle then try it. I just dont think it's gonna be an issue. After drinking from mud puddles now and who knows what after SHTF I cant see it being an issueKnowledge is Power, Practiced Knowledge is Strength, Tested Knowledge is Confidence

You CAN buy hoses that leave no "rubber hose" taste. My dad has a motor home that they travel in. He has a white hose that they hook up to the water supply at campsites. I've tasted the water that runs thru this hose to fill the tank... it tastes fine.
I'm not sure what the hose is made of, but if you check out a camper or RV supply store, I'm sure you can find one.

You are correct about that. I have 3 that I got from when I was in the RV business still wrapped up brand new.Originally posted by miked2345 View PostYou CAN buy hoses that leave no "rubber hose" taste. These "white potable water" hoses are about the same as a good quality garden hose but are only 20 ft long. You can even get them at Walmart or any camper store. No hose taste whatsoever.Originally posted by miked2345 View PostYou CAN buy hoses that leave no "rubber hose" taste. My dad has a motor home that they travel in. This. You can get connectors to put 2 or 3 hoses together if you need the additional reach. I fill my rv with these hoses and have never had any taste issues at all.Originally posted by barfife View PostThese "white potable water" hoses are about the same as a good quality garden hose but are only 20 ft long.
