  • Freeze Dried Shelf life after can/pouch opened

Ok so say I buy #10 can of Freeze Dried Chili Mac (as an example) and I open it and make a meal for a family of 4.

How long will the rest of the food in the can stay fresh if I put some kind of lid on it and throw in an O2 absorber?

Depending on humidity levels and the texture of the product, probably at least six months.

Nice....so in theory my idea of a Superpail of Freeze Dried entree's could work and not waste food especially if you had a bunch of people to feed.

I opened a can each of strawberries, blueberries and aspragus on the same day several months ago. After the first month, the strawberries were starting to absorb the humidity and needed to be finished. The blueberries lasted longer at two and a half months. I still have the open asparagus and it is still holding on after six months.

How long it lasts may be a matter of what was in the can.

        YMMV
