  • south ga mangos or they might be ??

as a kid we'd visit a relative who had several trees on the farm.
the trees had large fruit about 2.5 to 3 inches across that were real
delicacies to eat, if and a big if you got them "just ripe"

since then i've eaten mango which are very tasty.
    -
a friend how has a huge tree with limbs breaking under the weight of
    their fruit.

Persimmons are awesome and great game attractors as well. The jelly/jams are hard to beat!!

Growing up in my childhood house we had a Mature Persimmon tree. None of my family used them for anything. We once in a while had friends come over and grab some to make things with.
For me I used them as bombs to throw at my various plastic armymen. I would also throw them against the house, even though I knew they would stain the siding a blueish, purple color. Man did I get in trouble with those things. Bad memories of the belt (for my own good, btw.)!

Only "if I knew what I know now", how things could have been different... Hey that sounds like it could be a song, I may have to get ahold of Rod Stewart to see if he may be able to do something with that ;-)

Don't eat them befor the first good frost. They will make you pucker up like it was your first true love. I like persimmons and so dose the wild life. I have seen 4 coons in the Persimmon tree in a friends pasture and his cattle love them also. The bull will often homested under the persimmon trees. makes it hard to get some for a snack sometimes.
