The link on SurvivalBlog on this topic was great. These kids have build an entire system that seems to work! I watched all the videos and I'd like to try this system.

    Anyone have experience with this?

How do they prevent the top bucket from going all the way down into the bottom bucket? Looks like they wanted it to be alot higher up in the bottom bucket then it naturally would sit... ???

The buckets are the same size and slightly tapered at the bottom. The bucket on top goes only so far down.

I built 5 of those and had fair success with tomatoes last year. Worked better for peppers for me. Water tank part works fine but needs a lot of additional plant food.

I have used this system for a few years with the same results, great for peppers (bell & jalapeno) Not such great results with tomatoes. I get good leaf growth and flowers but not fruiting think I need to fertilize more maybe. Here is a link to my Earth bucket tutorial

I want to make sure I understand the theory of this system...the wicking cup is below the drain holes correct? If that is correct then it draws up water via the cup until the water level gets below the wicking cup. So wouldn't you want a cup that would reach down to the bottom almost? I couldn't tell how far the yogurt cup went past the drain holes.

thanks for sharing the video...I would like to make 1 suggestion make the font a little bigger on the notes/comments. Loved the music that you added!!
