  • Hydrogen Peroxcide for water purification

If I have a 55gal food grade plastic barrel, what is a good amount to put into to purify water. And what is the going rate of Hydrogen to water?

Not sure I would trust it, especially for LTS. H2O2 breaks down easily, and I don't think would be good for trying to store for WTSHTF. Here is a site I've looked at before which talks about it. Hope that helps some.

Another question about Hydrogen Peroxide. What is the self life of unopened bottles? I know that a plastic bottle broke in my Army M5 aid bag and ate away the canvas and ruined my first aid bag. After that I stored it is a freezer bag inside a plastic tote.

Make sure you differentiate between food grade hydrogen peroxide and $.88 a bottle used for cuts and scrapes hydrogen peroxide.

be careful storing Hydrogen Peroxide. If you have the chemistry grade stuff and keep it for a long time it can become very unstable to the point of exploding. I wouldn't store it for a long time personally. I worked in the Chemistry Dept at my college and I was told that they had to have HAZMAT come in and remove some really old Hydrogen Peroxide because it had become so unstable they were afraid it might blow up.
