  • Long-term recovery: Crops and farming, Best books to add to the library???

I've moved past merely surviving an initial shtf scenario and am now thinking long and hard about rebuilding/recovery/long-term survival. I'm building a library of books to keep in the bomb shelter on things including survival medicine, technology of the 19th century, modern tech explained, electricity and circuitry text books, wild plant and herb identification, etc.

I want to know if anyone has found a GREAT book or several books covering farming and gardening for a life-sustaining ammount of yield. pretty much "Be a farmer for dummies".

any suggestions or other book topics I should definately include in my "last library in the universe"? (classic novels are obviously already being added, for cultural preservation)

Encyclopedia of Country Living, Gardening when it counts are two that come to mind immediatley.

I have to find some time to access the info saved off my laptop that went to crap. I had most of my books listed in a spreadsheet in there. First time I had used a spreadsheet for any prep related stuff and the laptop went to hades not long after....

This is a simple little booklet published in 1919. The title is WAR GARDENING AND HOME STORAGE OF VEGETABLES.

hard for me to pin down just a few books, i am a reference book hoarder, it statred 15 yrs ago when i got into the trade in flagstaff and went on to do renovations in phx. books on carpentry and concrete, and being a plumber, gas fitter and currently pursuing my steamfitter ticket, also alot of books on electrcity.
now go on to my wild edibles collection, i must have 50 books on plants and also many books on cooking. one very good on breaks down not only how to cook but the whys of ingrediants (80 bucks, but very worth it)
also many many books on horses, rabbits, chickens and so on, plus book on butchery
My newest addiction is collecting dvds, several on wild edibles, mushrooms and butcheryalso the whole hoods woods dvd collection as i used to be a big wilderness skills addict
oh also lots of books and vids dealing with advanced first aid
sorry no tiltles just topics, but i rarely find a single book that covers it all
