OPERATIONS SECURITY...
Basically, the same thing as the military did keeping the Bin Laden operation secret and unknown until it went down...
Also, if one posts about all the stuff they have, where they are, etc... Someone prowling the internet might get an idea that that person would be worth robbing or killing if what they have is needed by them...
