Thanks, eeyore. I got a lot of helpful information on the link you provided. There is so much information on food and water storage in the following sub-link:
An official Church site providing information relating to self-reliance and welfare, including food storage, emergency preparedness, education, employment, resources,
I called the LDS cannery in Tucker, Georgia (the only one in the state). In order to buy food from them or to use their center, you have to have a LDS church member accompany you. They have bulk dehydrated foods which they help you put in #10 cans or in foil pouches---by appointment only.
So, before driving a long distance, make sure you call the center in your area to find out the details. Since I do not know a LDS member, I cannot make use of their cannery.

I was told something simular when my wife called the DC cannery, but this was quite a few years ago. So i would definitely call before you invest time to go and visit.I called the LDS cannery in Tucker, Georgia (the only one in the state). I was told the same thing, when I called. Then the guy told me, I could go to the store next door and buy as a non-memeber. He gave me a phone # to call and made an app. no problems. I don't understand what he meant by nextdoor? It's all the same bulding! That was strange. Anyways, I remember a post on here somewhere where a guy had a problem at an LDS and wasn't able to buy. But was told all LDS are open to non-memebers and to email the chruch headquaters. He got a email from the head guy of the chruch and told him to take the email with him the next time he went. Hope this helps. Maybe call them back and ask if they have store?Originally posted by Flagwaver View PostThanks, eeyore. I got a lot of helpful information on the link you provided.
