lts coffee?

I can't really speak to the shelf life of coffee, but I have read that the best way for store bought is if it's in a metal can, not the plastic ones. The best way for LTS is to buy green coffee beans and pack them in mylar. The bean is still intact when it's green, so the oil doesn't tend to go rancid. Just roast, grind and brew. That's what I've read so far on it.What a long, strange trip it's been.....

There should be an old thread in here about LTS of coffee. I don't remember what's in it, because I wasn't that far along yet and didn't lock it down in the brain. But you might look a little ways back and see if you can find it, and you might come up with some additional info if you don't get too many posts here.

we take all coffee out of the orginal container and reseal it in mason jars with the foodsavor, them store it in the dark ,dry, cool part of the cellar.we've been doing it since 96 and no problems .. you especially want to get the the new jars of Maxwell House instant out of the plastic and into glass jars.

I buy the vacuum packed "bricks" when they are on sale and keep them in a sealed five gallon bucket. When I gather enough I plan on putting them in mylar with an O2 absorber and seal the mylar. Not sure how it will keep, but even stale coffee will be better than no coffee.Protecting the sheep from the wolves that want them, their family, their money and full control of our Country!
