It's not bad, very honest on shortcomings and true water amounts.

Ditto what Klayton said.
On the second page it rated the steripen with higher number of stars against the MSR. It stated in the "misses" section that batteries only lasted 1900 ounces in the cold. Another miss for the steripen that I feel the reviewers missed was that it does not filter out particles. Therefore if you only had puddles to get your water from, the water may need to be set aside and let any particles settle to the bottom of your bottle, then use the steripen and when drinking, you may get some sediment. The MSR was gigged with less stars due to the fact that it took 3 and a half minutes to filter 100 ounces. If you have dirty water, you will be drinking those 100 ounces in three and a half minutes versus the steripen where you need to let that dirty water sit a while, then use the pen. I think the Steripen is good for clear water, but where I sometimes go, I may not have the clear flowing stream.
I'll keep my MSR...okay I'm a bit biased.Protecting the sheep from the wolves that want them, their family, their money and full control of our Country!
Guns and gear are cool, but bandages stop the bleeding!
