In the long long ago, I used to waste a lot of time on the net arguing with a certain fellow from another country over preparedness stuff. I've always stressed food storage. His reply was "you can always buy food."

That may sometimes be the case. But buy your rice for $15. for 50 lbs. now or $40. for 10 lbs. later? What the news article wrote there was my usual reply to the "you can always buy food."

Libyan style SHTF wouldn't work in America as the Lybyian people just want freedom. In America I often wonder what some people really want. It's too bad the media won't even be working here if the SHsTF as there will be some great footage coming out of the cities.Just look at what happened during Katrina, women were actually getting raped while staying in a crowded stadium.some cops were looting,people fighting over food and water,workers walking off their jobs at hospitals, nursing homes. Some people in cities say they will leave when the SHsTF, but in all reallity, they don't stand a chance of leaving with no gas and traffic backed up for miles.One of the largest cities NY, no one can get in or out without crossing a bridge. here, there would probably be all out war between the good people and the bad people with the cops thinking everyone is a bad person til they strip and search them and all their positions, it'll probably be everyone good and bad against the cops for a while. another reason for being prepped and staying inside til the cops and military get things sorted out,maybe months or even yrs.

What do the American people want? Beer, drugs, prepackaged food, American Idol and <insert latest Hollywood moron here>. Take away some or most of those pacifiers and watch the country burn...
