  • Doin' a Happy Dance...

    Hey guys,
I just had to let you all know. I am so excited! Long story short, my husband now thinks we should prepare. We went to a local Army surplus store today and they had a "survival food list" for 2 people for 1 year printed up which we talked about as I was going over some of the quantities and asked him how we could do this and where we could store it.

It was simply amazing how agreeable he was to it. We have an unfinished basement under our house, and he said we could put stuff in plastic containers to keep kritters out of the food. He made many great suggestions. How amazing is that!

You guys have no idea how worried I was about getting him on board with preparing. It is such a relief because he really knows a lot about guns/ammo, camping, fishing, hunting, fixing/building stuff, electrical work, etc., etc.

Now I feel like I don't have to hide the preps I already started. Thanks for letting me share this with you all.

              Great news Lacey!
Keep up the momentum, plan together, get information, ask questions.
              Just stay active.

My wife has also got more involved in preparations and asking "what if" questions.
Small things usually, but at least I know she's thinking about stuff.

My husband really surprised me when we talked about this. He mentioned a green house for growing veggies and herbs, rain barrels, water storage, and more. He had some great ideas for storing food in our unfinished basement. I was so AMAZED!!

Absolutely, we made a run to sam's last week and we were lock step in agreement on food for long term storage and just everyday foods. It helped a lot since she does the bulk of the food buying and knew if the price was right.

The bomb shell was when out of the blue she mentioned it would be smart to look into getting our concealed carry..i thought I was gonna fall out of my chair. i walked over to her and put my hand on her head. She asked me what I was doing and I replied "checking your temperature, I think you have a fever, you must have to consider a ccw" hehe..
Then she smacked me lol. Were looking at classes in March.

Good for you, Lacey!! I'll do a happy dance with you!! Now, just tell me how you did it. My husband thinks I suffer from dementia(which is possible). Buying 20 boxes of detergent at a time when on sale helps him with his decision there. My son helps me with my beginning preps, but many things are difficult. Only thing I can really collect with no problem is ammo, and DH thinks my outbuying him there is a bit strange, but it gives him free rein to buy too!! The big things are a bit tougher. Right now, I'm trying to figure out how to purchase cistern type containers for rainwater catching. You should watch me trying to convince DH there!! Maybe it will come, but in the mean time, just need to figure out how to purchase and hide 275 gallon water containers :)!! Again, good job, Girl!!

You did a good job, Lacey! Sounds like he was a prepper in the bud and was just waiting for you to punch the right button for him to blossom! Good job! It's a relief when your spouse joins the parade. My wife is on board now. She never resisted any before, just passive about it. Now she's playing an active role, which is invaluable. The wife & mother has insights into daily preps for the long term that most men never dreamed of. Most men think of guns & ammo & BOBs & BOVs, etc., while Mom will think of food, water, medications, and TP! LOL
