I dont have a pool. I was going to store some to make bleach for water disinfectant

I hesitated to reply as my experience is from memory and not documented or anything, so take if for what it's worth.

14-15 years ago I was helping my Aunt and Uncle at their pool store and they bought a pallet of pool shock from a company that was going out of business. It wasn't new at the time they purchased it. They used half of it when they changed brands and only used the old shock on their personal pool. The older shock set in the back storage up until last year when they finally got rid of it.

I would guess that it lasted, and still had a good effect for 15-16 years.


ETA: I forgot to mention that the shock set in the back storage for half it's life and the room is not conditioned. It was in an environment of High temps/humidity and low temps of high 40's

I have heard that certain types of powder bleach lasts more than 19 years.

I can tell you what not to store with pool shock! Anything metal

I seem to remember that storing in either glass or plastic containers were best. Metal will rust quickly as in the above vieo.
