lids for long term storage

Hubby picked up a bucket and lid at Lowe's. The lid does have a gasket seal, but it has one of those poor spouts on it.
Are the pour spout lids okay for long term storage if you don't ever use the spout?

I use 5 gallon food grade buckets with the gama seal lids.
