been moving my daughter, SIL, and grandson...plus my truck broke down again, so just sold that and looking for another...stupid prices....was in a jeep dealership, they bought my truck thru KBB, and they had a 2023 Grand Wagoneer listed for $102,000 and some RAM trucks 1500 for over $100,000. I told the used car sales manager these prices are nuts and he said I bought my house 30 years ago for $86,000 and its a nice house, and yes I agree they are crazy prices....

My yard has decided to grow. We have a very nice neighbor that mows our yard for free gas. There is so much still yet to do, like weeding, edging, etc. so I need to get out and do that but the temps here are 99 fells like 109....and thats at 4pm...

Sons getting married 8/8/24 so I would like to have a new-used truck by then as we are taking my daughter and grandson to TN for the wedding...SIL just started a new job, so he cannot go.

Instead of gardening, I'm busting my butt trying to kill the algae that's thriving in my pool. Brush, vacuum, a 6-pack of shock, a gallon of algaecide, rinse and repeat - and I'm getting almost nowhere. Tomorrow I'm going to add a couple gallons of pool chlorine and see if that will help. If not, I'll try more shock, more algaecide, and then drain the pool and start over...

My neighbor is/was a pool guy and he said Muriatic Acid. Now it does not take much so start small. We have a 1600 gallon swim spa and have used it when we could not get things under control. I will only use maybe 1/8 of a cup and it has cleared the little I had....be careful with muriatic acid touching anything you want, like your skin and eyes....

I have no garden, everything is gone except some left over sweet potatoes that just keep growing. Even the aerogardens are done as we have been away from house a week or two at a time. Our son is getting married and he and his bride to be wants me to do the ceremony....what an honor....plus daughter and husband and GS are now in GA, so there is that....

It's a shame about your garden but I know you have more pressing business to take care of. As for your son's wedding: congratulations to the happy couple and to you for being honored as the one officiating!

I'm going to see if I can get a pool company out to look at it. I've already put so many chemicals in it that I'm not sure I want to swim in it anymore🙄

well, we had to leave two days early from GA to beat the storm. Spent two nights just outside Chattanooga before moving to the airBnB near the wedding site. Wedding went well on Thursday, small, short and beautiful with Gods beauty surrounding us. Just got back last night to GA and the camper after dropping off our daughter and grandson at their house...whew....lots of driving...

I'm glad to hear the wedding went well and you stayed safe from the storm! Who ever knew that driving could be so exhausting??

My sweet potato vines have beautiful purple flowers - the parts that have to be cut back because they escaped contain! With all the rain every day, it's a jungle out there. As soon as I get the new home health agency in place, I'll be able to go out and straighten it up. The pool got cleaned and the guy will be back on Friday to finish vacuuming the algae that settled back to the bottom of the pool after he did the initial cleaning. Maybe I'll get to go swimming yet.

I got the garden weed whacked, including those beautiful flowers. Sweet potatoes and peppers are doing well. No time to work outside when it's 102 and not today without a home health nurse.

I did, however, make a crockpot of chili yesterday and canned 6 pints this morning, so the day wasn't a total loss. Yesterday I canned chicken breast cubes, and the day before that I canned sloppy joes. My supply of home canned food is looking better, since it's only me eating it and a pint of anything will last me for 2 meals. I have multiple jars of beef, carrots, and potatoes I canned earlier, so I think I'll add some celery and onions to make a pot of beef stew that I can re-can into pint jars for more heat-and-eat meals. I have lots of vacuum packed beans and rice, and commercially canned meat, vegetables, soups, etc. FD supply contains good variety and is as complete as it's going to be considering how much room it's using up. I have MRE's for good measure. This is all part of my getting prepared for hurricane season or whatever comes along. If the Dragon starts price fixing, I'll be glad to have all this bounty.

Today might be the day to get some gardening done. It's overcast and will hopefully be cooler. With September right around the corner, it's time to get planting again!

I was (too aggressively) watering the garden and saw this big orange thing - sweet potato! It's too early for harvesting so I buried it back under the dirt. The vine is still intact. If that's any indication of what I'm looking at in another month, I'll need any pressure canner because that above ground container is packed with vines.😂 I've done so much canning lately that I have no more room in the pantry, so I hope the weather cools down so I can store home canned goods in the garage. Pepper plants are finally getting teeny tiny peppers on them. I'd like to plant more but nowhere left to store it; pantries are full, both freezers are full, and my storage room is full. I may call gardening season over until next spring except for some cabbage and onions.

Been getting other things taken care of - handyman was here today to repair the workshop door framing and power wash the workshop. Someone else coming tomorrow to wash/wax the motorhome as I get it ready to sell. Once it sells, I'll get a big storage building put in so I can retrieve my furniture etc. out of the storage unit and mov a lot of tools, paint, and other stuff from the garage to the new storage building, After that, we need to get a new front entry door installed, and I'd really like to get the water heater replaced as it's 9 years out of warranty.

Because our day nurse called off yesterday, I got double hours today. Since I had the time, I did a couple loads of laundry then headed out to the garden. I put in seeds for 20 plants:

• 5 broccoli
• 5 cabbage
• 5 turnips
• 5 butternut squash

I watered the Bell pepper plants and the seed pots, and cut back the wandering sweet potato vines. I can see the sweet potatoes hiding barely under the dirt but am waiting for fall to start harvesting and canning. Weeds are in full bloom regardless of how often I pull them up by the roots. It's summertime hot out there today but I'm done with outside work.

I have been MIA as my dad went in hospital and then died 10 days later. He was 94 years old and cognitively intact all the way to the end. He died peacefully, but was still hard for us. Both his grandchildren were able to get in to see him, older brother did not make it in time and came in just 5 hours after he passed. The paperwork is crazy after someone dies. The bank locked his account down, even though I was on the account, had a will and was POA (and I now know POA is null and void upon someones death). They said it was because he had >$5k in bank. Then two days later when SS and VA sucked their money back out, as he died on the 28th, he was under the $5K mark and I was allowed access again...WTH??? So, I was on the account as the POD (payable on Death), but apparently their 'banker' that set that up didn't do something right and so their attorney's said that was no good. They assure me that they have opened a case on that banker.... So, being a smart a$$, I asked the little banker so, if he had $5001 I cannot have access but at $4999.99 I am good to go....she was very nice and said, yeah, doesn't make sense....that was Wells Fargo....

Wells Fargo has always been on my DON'T TRUST list.
Girlfriend took a teller job with one WF bank.
They made her accept driver's license with picture held by scotch tape to open an account.
Then found out her boss was changing here cash drawer close out logs.
Then she quit.
I remember when their management was opening fake accounts to get bonuses.

I have a small Wells Fargo checking account, but the bulk of our money is in another bank.

We have durable POAs, which our lawyer said would protect either of us in the event of the other's death. All of our accounts are jointly held, and our assets can be dissolved by either of us as titles are listed as "X or Y" instead of "X and Y". After my husband's open heart surgery in 2014, we did wills, living wills, health care surrogates, and POAs. I'm pretty confident that our lawyers knew what they were doing, because a sudden death wasn't out of the question.
