  • It was 92o here today - it's February??? I'm hoping my seeds will sprout in the next week, but I think I need to move them to the opposite side, where they will get sun earlier in the day. Otherwise, errands, laundry, mopping....

    • Fixed the hose reel, dumped 160# of salt into the pool, and watered my seedlings. Beefsteak and Romas sprouting😁 The bag garden looks great! I didn't get the little greenhouse moved as salting the pool was all the 90o heat I could handle for today. Maybe tomorrow morning.

      • Beets and cukes are sprouting, so maybe a greenhouse move isn't in order (just some patience). I suspect there will soon be lots more sprouts, and then I'll have to start thinking about transplanting, trellises, and getting the containers moved. I was going to tear out the overgrown flowering broccoli, but the bees have been enjoying the flowers, so I'll just leave it there for a while.

        • Some of my seeds have sprouted and others are doing nothing. I will give them another week, then replant if necessary. Very windy day so I'm just letting everything sit where it is, and just watering.

          • been MIA for a bit...started a new side hustle/business and have been getting that going. Trying to get out this week and plant some seeds....

It is time for the spring push NOW, so I have to do it....

            • I have a bunch of seedlings but have been sitting out trying to get my foot to calm down😂 Been limping around for 3 weeks now...

I have bags ready to go once I get out there, but I'm going to need more potting soil!

              • Potting soil will be here tomorrow. I reseeded the few seed starters that didn't germinate and left them out in the full sun for encouragement. I have more plants started than I have bags for! That means I need to get busy emptying the above ground containers. There are only 3 containers that have growing vegetables in them; the rest have dirt and some weeds. I'm going to ask my husband to order a dump cart for the John Deere so I can shovel into the cart, move the container, and dump the soil right into it. In my mind's eye, there is enough room for all 8 containers in the bag garden area. If not, I'll need to confiscate another part of the yard for the overflow. This is not the time to cut back on growing food!

                  • I watered all the plants and seedlings and moved the new potting soil to the bag garden to get ready for transplants. The seedlings need to get a bit bigger before transplanting. The time change has me a bit off (more than usual) today, but hopefully I'll get synced to it by tomorrow or Tuesday.

                      • Another day being mechanic's helper, as we installed a new chlorine generator then pulled it out and installed another one. Both did the same thing, so now we're confused. Told husband to call the manufacturer and talk engineer-talk with them.

Plants all look good. Yesterday's day-and-night-long rain event left everything looking green and perky. Maybe tomorrow I can be a gardener instead of a wrench-turner😂

                          • I really enjoy hearing how y'all are handling the growing plants and stuff.
But it was 14 degrees this morning at 8000 feet elevation so my plants are on hold.
BUT in 14 days, I'll see how many of my eggs produce chicks.
More chickens feels like a concept right now.

If I could have them where we live, I would. I'm green with envy - such an easy animal to raise and care for.
