I've never had carp. Always heard it isn't good eating. Gar? I caught a 9 pounder one time. I thought I had an alligator on the line! LOL I thought the only folks that like gar have to pressure cook it to make it edible?

Good points in the first several posts. I need to add some basic fishing gear to my BOBs. the chemlights could be a great plus! Figure I could set some lines out and catch some zzzs while waiting for supper to hit the line.

I've had carp. It's good if cooked right.

Gar is excellent! Can be deep fried, grilled, or smoked. It has a taste that is almost sweet.

Heard Gar has a lot of bones. Is it hard to filet?

I know people who pressure can the carp, bones 'n' all. The bones are edible after they are pressure cooked. Having said that, I will say I have never eaten carp canned or otherwise. Daddy says they are a lot of fun to spear gun though.

Not really you crack the shell and just peel out the meat
