  • Looking for best place to buy non-hybrid grains for planting

Hey guys, I am curious if anyone out there has any good ideas where I can get enough seed to plant an acre of wheat, buckwheat, hull-less oats and millet? I have tried searching the web, but most offer small packets, or at the most 6lbs.

    Thanks

baker creek has many very hard to find seeds in their catalog. i did not see any wheat but i bet if you called them they could point you the way. very good people and a very professional set up. they were there for me after the sale and are always happy to talk about their seeds and plants after planting. hope this helps some.

Thanks ibetiny, I used them before and they are a great company. I actually found a decent place to buy some wheat. Montana wheat
They had some of the best prices I could find. I also checked if their wheat was good for planting and they verified that it was. Seeds of Change had hulless oats and buckwheat. I noticed that many places were sold out of the hulless oats. Sustainable Seeds had proso millet. It's a shame I have to order from three different companies, and pay three different shippings.

Any one else notice that most of the corn is sold out at several of the big OG and heirloom seed co's?

your local feed and seed store should carry them and can most definitely order them in 50 pound bags... we have had the same problem with finding larger amounts of seed so much so that we are seriously contemplating starting a bulk grains for eating and bulk grains for seed store front.. you may also want to send an email to montanawheat.com and ask how they dry the wheat they sell. This is where we just purchased some wheat berries at a darn good price even and I am going to sprout some over the next few days to see how viable it is for planting. They use no gmo and are pesticide free natural growers

I clicked on the Montana Wheat link and got an index page. Which one is the one you were talking about? Thanks.

I talked to a rep at Montana Wheat and verified that their wheat is also good for sprouting. I'm placing an order soon.
