Any thought or comments on a FN FAL clone from century arms L1A1?
Survival question. What do I need most, right now?

Like most things from Century, they can be really good or really bad, it's a crap shoot every time. The last FAL I onwed (Before I discovered the SAIGA .308) was a Century and it ran fine, except for the inherent flaws in the gun design itself, to wit:

As to the FAL in general, it's an okay weapon with some good things going fot it (cheap, reliable mags, sturdy, easy to maintain, left side charging handle) but for me it has a very poor trigger (which is difficult if not impossible to fix-last time I checked, btw) awful magazine release and awful ergonomics.

Others may disagree, but for the same money, you can get a converted SAIGA that is ergonomically surperior and is an AK! After having owned both, I have never looked back...

    YMMV

Some people have had decent luck with them. I've not been impressed with the ones I've seen/handled. I had a DSA and they are the only current FAL that I'd trust.

I have a C1A1 (Canadian made FAL). It is a very smooth shooting rifle (as far as felt recoil). That being said, the trigger was really bad when I got it, I had it worked on, now it is OK, not great, but OK. The trigger pull is heavy, but it does break clean. I have not had any malfunctions with it. My biggest problem with it is the length. It is a very long rifle. The rifle will print 1 1/2" - 2" groups when I do my part. They can still be found somethimes for a much lower price than a real Belgian FAL. It might be worth looking into if you are looking for a FAL but don't have the money for a DSA which are very fine rifles.

I had a C1 also a long time back, I didn't put a lot of use through it, but I never had a problem with it.

Rocky- "Wow! I've never even seen a three dollar bill!"

Boris- "Is it my fault you're poor?"

Not sure what your needs are, but I would not buy a full-length FAL... A 16" Carbine or shorter... A para folder is what I would get next time... Mine is below...
