Ive got the itch to put a lil modern on the ole 47...been thinking of dumping the wood stock set for a kvar nato length or a railed front ....plus wife keeps bugging me on what i want for a bday gift...

A good, small red dot (Aimpoint Micro) on an AK is never a bad thing... I hate iron sights, and AK irons are not so good as it is.
I personally kept my Micro on the cover to the rear, as I do not want weight on the front of an AK. So the only use for a railed front is for a light, and I don't think the additional weight of a railed front is worth the benefit...
I like the Parabellum Armament solution so far...

ARmpl- Awesome! I've said for years why doesn't someone put a rail right there! Sweet.
Protus- go for it. You know I loved the old skewl look/feel for years but their is a lot of non tacticool reasons for the plastic also including water resistance.

Rmpl I know...reason I was looking at the longer NATO length ...noticed last range day how my rear sights were getting a Tad fuzzy ...once I get lowdowns age ill have to buy an optic I guess :p LOL

I'm glad I've lived to see what you guys saw with me a few, okay several, years ago with training at LD3s when I was having problems with the sights and I said I was getting an optic. I remember a few chuckles....
