I stopped by a gander mtn store and salesman was extra nice, partly because store was slow and he had time to shoot the breeze...

I asked about .22 ammo and he suggested I return in the morning..
I put forth the idea that they would be getting in a new shipment...
he talked for a while about folks hoarding .22 then advised..

that they had a large amount of .22 in the storeroom, but were only allowed to sell a certain volume every day...
by limiting sales per day of .22 it made the hoarders make repeat trips and it would be easier for regular folks to find some supply.

some folks are loading the buggy.
some stores are restricting sales!

Hard to do for people who work, less the weekends... I have not seen 22LR in my wanderings almost 6 months or more... But I don't go out seeking it either.

Also if you order .22 online from Gander mountain (when it is in stock) they will ship to store for free. Cabelas will do the same thing.

ive only found .22 lr once in 1.5 yrs and it was at local wally world..got last 3 they had which made my limit of 3 per day. The other calibers are back in now,some in huge quanitys,but higher than before panic prices

If looking for .22 at walmart, may I suggest brassbadger.com. It is usually quite accurate for most of the calibers of ammo that walmart sells. For .22 if it shows in stock for more than a day then that store isn't accurately reporting or has a problem with employees. Usually the ammo will show in stock the night before and they put it out in the morning, but some walmart stores put it out when they get it (or sell ammo 24 hours - usually the stores that do that sell ammo but no guns). I've been able to keep my supply of .22 steady using that site.

Also if you don't mind ordering online, wikiarms.com will allow setting up email alerts at whatever price point you choose. I have the alerts for .22 go to my phone email so I can see what is out there and can decide if I want to order it or not. I've tapered off on buying .22, but still get the alerts. Also if looking for other calibers online wikiarms website will allow alerts to be set up for those as well.

The main thing I do is add to my stash so training can continue, and if it means using technology to find the best prices and to save some legwork/site surfing then that is a good thing to me as I have more time for other things. :)
