  • pistol mag holders for a belt

Question for the group, I am in need for some pistol mag holders that will be carried on a belt.

I am currently using the cheap ACE nylon/Velcro ones and I have come to the conclusion they suck.

So I am open for opinions on what works.

    Thank you for any opinions.

I like the kydex ones... They are costly but very slim and seem to hold up well.

I don't have the money for lots of testing of various gear so I tend to try buy one and done. I liked the kydex so much that I bought some "sheets" of Kydex to make more and also a sheath or two for some knives that need some love in the that department.

In the past I would have said flap over the pouch.

But now that is some of knowledge I am looking for in this research.

I see that most of the 3 gun holster set ups Dont run any flaps. But that doesn't always translate into usable gear for day to day use.

If the current flapless holsters have good rentnition then those would be an option.

My main focus for this is to have a belt ready to go for HD.

Ill be the cheap gear Guy LOL ...

On my HD /shtf belt I run a cheap condor /ctd /voodoo whatever two mag pouch. It has flaps. I just tuck the flaps inside the pouch..then the mag. This helps snug things up. If I'm in the field and I'm worried about ""retaining " those I use the flaps...but so far their snug enough to hold tight.I do the same with the black water pouches I have as well.
I'd like to get a kydex set but I ain't sweating it LOL ymmv.

There was some Eagle (I believe) pouches on ebay that held one mag each. I have fought HTH with them on, rolled around on the ground with them, etc. and they won't release until you pull them.

The Condor MC two mag pouches with flaps have held up good on chest rigs, PCs also.

What kind of belt and what are you going to be using it for?
              Games?- Dunno
Hunting?- Pretty much anything with a flap.
SHTF?- Quality nylon such as Blue Force Gear or kydex such as Safariland etc
CCW?- Leather or Kydex- which ever you like best

Bladetech or safariland. There are some new pouches from HSGI that are called 'tacos', I purchased one and so far so good. They'll also work on single or double stack pistol mags. They're kind of $$$ but they're quality.

This unique Single Rifle Mag TACO® pouch is constructed from injection-molded polymer brackets, heavy-duty nylon and shock cord lacing to both expand and lock just about any magazine in place.   Features / Benefits: • Securely holds most rifle magazines• Magazines deploy easily and silently on demand• Also fits certain

Primary intended use for this holsters will be for Home Defense.

I have a simple belt that holds the firearm holster (with firearm) and two mag holsters (with mags), the whole setup is nothing special but the weak link right now is the mag holders. If I leave the velcro straps fastened over the mag, all is well. If I tuck the flap in, with the current mag holders, the mags can slide out at any time I bend over.

Plan being regardless of what I am wearing / doing; I can grab the belt to put it on, just pull the firearm out to use it or sling my arm through it for an improve bandoleer.

If the mags fall out, then the use of the belt goes down.

Thanks for the the reply. Probably the easiest would just get a kydex double open top from BladeTech and be done.

I have saved up my money and bought two of the pistol TACO mag holders. When they show up and get a little use, I will get a review written up.
