  • check out 357 Sig. 45 grs, 2550 fps

and the LARGER case of the .40 is almost 400 fps less, same weight bullet? Larger bore, same bullet weight, means shorter bullet and more powder space! Something's not right with that picture. 357 Sig and .40 short and weak have the same SAAMI max pressures, too. Can't lose more than 300 fps, going from 5" barrel to 3" barrel of a pocket .40, and any 9mm barrel can be rechambered to 357 Sig. Probably wouldn't lose 200 fps, in fact. 45 grs at 2200 fps is 500 ft lbs, but no more recoil than the 9x18 Makarov. 100 grs at 1000 fps type of thing. here;s the link to such velocity. http://magsafeonline.com/prices_specs.php

Given a solid aluminum hp, turned on a lathe, you could do like THV Arcane did, and machine a big, conical hollowbase cavity, creating more space for powder, which means another 100 fps or so. 2300 fps, and 550 ft lbs, quite possibly, in a Kahr CM pocket auto. Not bad. :-) slit it from the nose almost to the base of the bullet, and it will break into 2 halves lengthwise at impact. The relatively "hard" segments will have sharp corners, and tumble as they pass thru the target. They will diverge, creating 2 separate wound tracks, causing twice as much damage and shock, and doubling your chances of hitting something vital. Too bad such ammo is LEO, eh?

Now the question would be how much penetration will you get from that light of a slug? 22.5 grains per slug isn't going to have a lot of terminal energy when it hits something. You are probably looking at a shallow wound track and energy dump fairly quickly.
