  • 6.5 x 68??

i've stumbled on several boxes of
    10 buchsenpatronen 6,5x 68

    the opposite side says
    RWS 10 center fire rifle cartirdges 6,5 x 68
    soft point spitzer
    bullet 93 grains
    made in germany..

i've asked several gun guys about this and they just scratch their head.
have you got anything that shoots this round.. what is it?
    any significant info?
i took some to a swap meet and no interest.

I've never shot it but, from Wikipedia:

The 6.5x68mm rimless bottlenecked rifle cartridge (also incorrectly known as the 6.5x68mm RWS, 6.5x68mm Sch

RWS is an ammo manufacturer in Switzerland and Germany Good quality stuff.

The 6.5x68mm is/was a German cartridge made around WWII, but never really took off after the War and used to a limited extent on in Continental Europe. Looks to be the main platform that was chambered for it was the Mauser Model 98. Probably not a lot of those particular rifles hanging around. My guess is it's a bring back from someone who was stationed in Europe that finally decided to get a easier to find caliber.

Appears RWS still loads it (have to use a translator on the page)

Looks to be about the equivalent of a 6.5 magnum from all accounts. Burns out barrels at around 1000 rounds.

If you are looking to get rid of it, I'd toss it up on Gunbroker and see what kind of hits you get. Do a no reserve $0.01 start and see where it goes.
