  • Is the shortage easing up???

So I was in my local Walmart today, about 2pm, to get a new battery charger, (Apparently they're only good for about 15 years..) and I decided to take a side trip to the ammo cabinet... Surprise, surprise!! They actually had some 9mm and some .40... About 6 boxes each. (50/box)

Well I couldn't let that go, I got the clerk to unlock the cabinet so I could buy the one box that the sign said I was allowed to buy per day... While getting the ammo, the clerk says "Yeah, I think the shortage is easing up - we got this in at 7am and it's usually gone in an hour or two!!" The price wasn't to bad either, $13.95 for 50 rounds of 9mm FMJ.

Is the shortage easing? Perhaps I just got lucky today...

Ammo, mags and complete weapons are coming back into stock with some regularity. And prices are dropping as well. AR mags are about back to normal and it appears most pistol mags are as well.

5.56 and .223 have dropped below $500 a case in most places (there are still a few holdouts) and 7.62x39 can be found fairly regularly for under $300 a case.

Pistol ammo is coming back in, but typically not in bulk. Individual boxes are reasonably easy to find, still overpriced versus a year ago, but can be found.

Individual components for certain types of firearms are still hit and miss, but you can find them reasonably prices when they are in stock.

It does look like the drought is somewhat lifting.

      And adding one more thing...

With our revered political leadership starting their rhetoric once again, stock up while prices are good. We are just one crisis away from another scare. Buy cheap, stack deep

the bass pro in macon ga. has multiple ar's on the shelves.
our local walmart has had several brands of ar's for several weeks now, in stock.

ammo still low and purchases limited at our walmart, but variety is gradually increasing.

i was referred to a new internet company over the weekend.
large variety in stock, but prices did -not- look good. luckygunnerammo.

Walmarts in our area have a 3 box limit. Depending on how you get to know the clerk and how cool they are, that's either 3 boxes per day period, 3 days of that SPECIFIC BRAND and caliber or drag your wife over there to buy 3 boxes and you buy 3 boxes.

But yes it does seems to be opening up there. Good thing too, our ammo can with "training" 9mm was getting low again and I was going to have to dig to re-fill it. But I've found about 1,000 rounds in the last week, so that will keep us for a couple seasons. The boy is just like his pops- he really likes to shoot pistol, so my ammo bill has went up considerably in the last six months.

We have the same wankers here that show up every morning and buy the new stock. I have no idea where they thin k they will sell it, but the only caliber that is consistently available is 12ga skeet ammo...

They are selling it at gunshows and small gun stores. I've actually busted the vendors out in line

The last time I was in Walmart, they had quite a bit of hunting calibers, but nothing that I wanted.

I had to go to town today and went by the local farm/ gun store. They had several cases of 223 for $499 for 1000rds. They also got in a lot of guns including a bunch of rugar 10/22's. They also had some 22lr in stock. Said they had a lot, but only had a few single boxes left.

The show this last weekend had a large amount of ammo, just not much 22lr. I sold 2500 rounds of 22lr and the multi million dollar guys across from me only had 10k rounds of 22lr at opening. We were both sold out in the first 15 minutes. Aside from that federal 223 was going for $550 per 1k reloads for 450$ TONS of 9mm, 40, 45acp and shotgun slugs,00 Buck, bird shot.. They have the ammo its just pricey..

The shows like gunnut said have some. The evil empire of wallieworld has no 9 or 22 but is starting to get other stuff and keep it. The 22 is still being horded even by those without or by those reselling
