What a sorry POS product..... Seriously.....
OK so I was looking for something to help keep a CR123 or two for the DBAL IR laser always with the rifle.
I'm usually not a big trivial accessory guy. Ran an AK pretty much plain Jane for most of the 25 years I've been running them.
So this product LOOKED like a good idea.
Wasn't overly pleased that it took a HEX HEAD screw. The pathetic little hex head tool sent with the grip didn't work worth a crap so I dug out a screwdriver one from the armorer's tool box and used that. Chinced it up really well to begin with. First couple hundred rounds through it was fine, ran with it on more than a few occasions, never a problem.
Maybe 100 or so rounds into practice yesterday and the grip gets loose.
Now, with a STANDARD AK grip, it's a flat head. Hell if you got an AK you HAVE A FLAT HEAD screwdriver bit- it's on the BACK OF THE MAGAZINE!
However no hex head attachment though...
So it went in the vehicle to be tightened up back at the house- FAIL
Back at the bunker, eeerr house... dig out the armorer's tool box, grab the screwdriver hex head set I used previously and this time some Loc Tite also. This isn't going to happen again me thinks....
So tightening the hex head- SNAP! the plastic breaks
Nice.... Loc Tite goes everywhere also, making the experience all the more fun.
Cool daddy "BG grip" goes in the flippin trash heap WHERE IT BELONGS and the standard Izmash pistol grip comes back out of the tool box and is snug as a bug in a rug.
Solved the carry an extra battery for the DBAL IR laser the old fashioned- read LOW TECH- way. Left on CR123 in a little ziplock baggie, noticed that it nested nicely on the little cut out on the stock. So it's there on the left hand side of the stock, waterproof in the baggie and taped in place with camo tape. Low tech? Yes. Will it work better than the crappy arse US PALM BG grip? I have NO DOUBT WHATSOEVER.
