  • Why safety glasses are highly recommended

Ever think shooting glasses are worthless?

TFB’s resident South American gun expert Ronaldo Olive sent us these photos of a Colt M16A2 Commando (Model RO735B) owned by the Polícia Militar do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (the Rio de Janeiro State Military Police).

(and waiting on the AR sucks AK rules comments lol)

In the last few years at matches we have had several firearms fly apart and numerous splashbacks from bullets on steel targets have hit people in the face. In fact one of our family is a magnet, she catches one everytime we go out. We used to avoid her but now we stand near her to be safe LOL
BTW I've seen every type of weapon come apart here and overseas ARs, AKs, G3s, Berettas, 1911s, bolts, doubles and singles even my beloved Glock and all you gotta do is a quick search to find one

I wear glasses and I only buy ones that rate as safety glasses

I always wear rated shooting glases at the range. Having had the sight in my shooting eye go completely dark due to a detached retina kinda made me appreciate my vision a little more. A two hour operation (awake, by the way) restored my sight, almost. But there were no garantees and the healing process was darn near a year.
Even a split case spewing burning powder can ruin your day.

          Grand,

Thanks for the push... I always where glasses but in recent years I have RX lens and had been using those when I shoot... They are not "Safety" glasses nor do they have the coverage... So I broke down last week and ordered a pair of RX Safety glasses and sun glasses.
