With the CCI Velocitors selling for over $20 per box of 50 (I paid $2.00), I thought briefly about selling the whole lot, make a wad of dough, then replace it with standard 22LR later one when it all dies down again....

But, what if I cannot replace that ammo later? What if gun laws do hit us hard and ammo goes even higher, if any is even to be found? What if some S hits the fan before I get to replace that supremely USEFUL, high-velocity, hunting capable ammo and I am stuck with the lead round nose stuff I also have?

Needless to say, the $$$ wasn't enough to override my logic...

I just want to see some .22LR. Everyone is either hoarding or jacking the price up to where only the knucklheads are buying it.

I also would like to see some reasonably priced Ruger BX-25 mags.

Hopefully things die down soon around here.
You know what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like this?

Excellent thoughts and truth. I believe your thoughts are dead on track

The truth as I see it is that ammo is one of the first things that is attacked even before SHTF and will be the first thing attacked when SHTF so trying to save an ammo, especially one that can be limited by time, to barter with might not be the best plan IMO besides arming someone else who wants/needs supplies.

Yep, major Darwin suckage if you are shot and killed with some cheap 22LR ammo you bartered to the hungry man who found out later that small game has already been depleted and is hard to hunt, so he comes back for YOUR food as YOU are a big, easy target...

This is true. I used to only use Hornady bullets but have found Winchester and a few other name brands in local shops. I've also had to vary the powder and primers (usually use CCI primers but have been able to find some Winchester there, too).

I have all the ammo I need and more. But my philosophy is "KEEP ON PREPPING." That means to prep even when things don't look bad. Most people don't use that method. They start buying right before a potential gun ban, when prices are at the peak. All I can say is, "Keep on Prepping."
EXPECT THE BEST - PREPARE FOR THE WORSE

                  KEEP ON PREPPING

They how have successfully produced Lowers receivers, Mags, Pistol Grips and many other parts with these printers. The first couple of revisions on the receivers were not very durable but they now have fixed that and have run hundreds of rounds without problems... This was started by Collage Kids in a garage and they dont have enough money to test thousands of rounds but the idea is that the "Cat is out of the bag".

As far as Big Brother is concerned the "Gun" of an AR is the Lower Receiver (the part that has a SN).
You as a private individual can "make" your own gun (given a few limitations like NO Full Autos, NO Pistols and NO SBRs), for your own use and you dont sell/transfer/trade it.

So you could make yourself many Lower Receivers and magazines if you had access to a 3d printer?
magazines are not simple parts that do not see much stress. they are a carefully designed and manufactured item that is critical for a an semi auto pistol or rifle to function. the 3rd parts you are refering to break very easily when made with a 3rd printer. they are not anywhere near as durable as a manufactured part.

The only thing simple about mags is that they will last close to forever if properly stored unloaded...
