Found a suitable tennis racket case at ****'s Sporting Goods and proceeded to mod it to carry my folding stock AK-74. The AK is a truck gun, so I wanted a case for it that would blend in anywhere and not cause soccer moms to pee their panties or LEO's to ask me for "ID" under threat of gun point...
It is a simple $20 tennis racket case. I marked off the mod sew points and went to work. The receiver wrap holds the AK up so that the 30-rd magazine doesn't rub on the bottom of the case, wearing a hole eventually. Plus I added some padding below the mag plate in case it does get set down/dropped on the mag. I also made a mag pouch and sew it in below the handguard. This case now holds a folding stock AK-74 with 30-rd magazine installed, and a spare 30-rd magazine.
Much of this project was from salvaged nylon from old packs or computer cases. The pad for the mag plate was a Dell notebook case shoulder pad and the nylon webbing were case & bag cut-offs...
Sadly, a home sewing machine may not be able to sew through the padded case sides or all the nylon, but my Consew 206RB-2 walking foot machine ate it up like butter. But it was a big twisting hassle to mash up the case enough to get the sewing foot where I needed it to be and to keep any semblance of a straight sewing stitch...
I may do this as a side-cash deal for those wanting something similiar, but it took about two hours to make, so I'm not sure anyone would pay $50 + case cost and shipping for one of these...
