OK, I just wanted to rag on the Bear Grylis bangwagon super line of survival equipment. Because I hate when someone sells out to put there name on inferior equipment just to make a buck. All of this equipment was supposed to have been tested by Bear himself but I doubt he done much more than opened a pizza box with the knife. I understand the waterproof fire stick really is water proof but then so is every other Mag Fire stick out there and they don't come with that cumbersom tube thing to store it in.
I was dissappointed by the Bear Grylis Ultimate Survival Knife that came out a while back. The built in fire starter was mounted upside down and would fall out and be lost. The Pummel on the end of the knife was known for flying off at even crushing acorns. It was not a knife you want to depend on for your life. Well now Gerber has addressed all the problems with that knife (supposedly) with this new model shown at the 2013 Shot Show in Vegas.
Everytime I see this happen (And its all too Often!) it makes me mad, these companies come out and sell the public a piece of equipment that is completely over rated. Then when they get all the feedback saying it is not as advertised. They come out with a new Improved model of the same thing claiming to have "Fixed" it and sell it to the same folks again. and at the new improved higher price. Now if they will take back the original piece and give you credit towards the new model that would be different.....
