  • .22 auto nowhere to be found

we are having a drawing/raffle at a local civic organization.
most of the tickets are sold.
most of the prizes are bought.

we've been telling folks that there will be a .22 auto included as a prize.

marlin 60 or rem. 597 or close.
now there are none. local big gun store has a bolt .22
wally had a ?savage? a week ago.

i checked at the usual and not even a 10-22. and that would cost more than our budget.

    this is a shocker.
we have meeting for group and will ask for help. maybe someone's got one in their closet they'd sell.

    whew.

Sign of the times right now. I wouldn't make promises on anything gun related until the vote

      Would a S&W m and p 15 (.22) work for you?
      What's your budget?

biggest gun store in several counties advised getting a semi auto would be hard.
suggested a bolt gun. 199 that he had a few of. i'm embarassed i forgot the brand.
the 60 or 597 should be around 150.
i sure hope wally gets one in.

zombie target... yahoo. i've seen these on tv... red jacket i think or maybe ???
anyhow. plastic target that "bleeds" when you shoot the life sized (top half) zombie!!
for this particular civic organization, i think this target will be an attractive prize.
not substituting for the .22, just spending our budget!! it's fun. maybe i can find a
        turban for him!!!

          overlapping posts

nice rifle, the m+p. i'd sure like to see that in the stack, and i'd like to own one too.
but as in prior post... we'd planned on about 150..

          here's what we are doing.
we had a swap meet in the fall. limited to organization members and their guests.
went well, but we'd never done this before, therefore low attendance.
but all leadership wanted to do it again. we are.
to help advertise it, we are having a raffle with the drawing the day of the swap meet, at the swap meet.

think yard sale or flea market or tradin' day or barter day.
bring your stuff. new, old, extra. emphasis is on sporting, camping, hunting, shooting, fishing gear.
but ok if you bring your old clothes or old recliner.

we do things to make money, but this is just a service to the membership.
so in the drawing, ALL of the ticket money is going to buy prizes. and we are getting a few donations.
someone would have done very well, just to buy all the tickets.
the prize stack will be worth more than the price of buying all of the tickets.
for 2 reasons. 1. donated items 2. buying stuff at great discounts.

try it at your local civic organization!!

i've had several guys helping me watch for the.22
            no luck.
today, i found a savage 64 at wally for 137.
it wasn't on the shelf. a salesman had time to dig in his computer, then had trouble finding it in the storeroom.

good luck gettin what you need guys.

I was at Walmart today, buying some quality Chinese crap, and thought I'd check out the ammo stock while I was there... They have 2 locked glass door cabinets, 1 for handgun ammo, 1 for rifle and shotgun ammo.

The handgun cabinet was TOTALLY empty... Every shelf bare, not even a box of 22 ammo. The rifle and shotgun cabinet wasn't much better... a few boxes of 270, 30-06, and some shotgun slugs..

Things are lookin' skinny out there!

I know long time since I actually signed in. Still lurking but figured I might add something that might help you guys out that are looking for ammo. I have been using gunbot.net to keep an eye on ammo. They find some pretty good deals at times but you have to be fast to actually get in on it as the good deals last for minutes before sold out. In addition I would recommend pre-registering on the sites so as not to waste time if they actually get a deal you might want to participate in.

I was able to get 7.62 rounds for 0.28cents a round and 5.56 rounds for 0.39cents a round. Hope this helps some of y'all out.

What I read from the SHOT show was saying gun/ammo manufacturers are running full tilt. 3 shifts 7 days in a lot of cases. They simply can't churn them out fast enough. Ammo manufacturers are concentrating on loaded ammo, and I'm guessing the popular calibers first. The bad news, or worse news, is for handloaders. Federal, Hornady, CCI, etc. are putting all of their components into loaded ammo. So components on the shelves could be 6-9 months out.

Customer told me today at the Charlotte gunshow over the weekend they were selling 500 rounds of .22 for $75.

I have not seen .22 at a store in 6 weeks.

                      Getting a lil ridiculous.

I paid $65 for 500 rounds of CCI .22 Stingers last weekeind. They're usually more expensive than the bulk Federal, etc., but they're copper jacketed and 1650fps vs 1050-1250 for standard LRs.

The only .22s I've found other than that are bird stot.

I can get all the 12 I need but the budget is finally letting me afford some other ammo and It isnt there, Friday morning is my day off and I already have a early wake up planed so I can be the first in line at Dicks to get the ammo I need, want to take the kids to the range but have to get some more so I feel comfortable shooting a bunch of ammo with the kids.

I was just informed by the wife that our local walmart which gets their ammo shipment in on friday nights has been instructed to lie to customers and not put it out until 7am on sat morning. I went last night and they lied to me and then stocked and sold out this morning. Same last week. The stupidity reigns
