  • flash hider/muzzle break

I am looking for a flash hider for my SKS. As I don't have a threaded barrel, I want the type that fastens with the sight pin. I can find muzzle brakes for it, but little or no flash hiders. How well does a muzzle brake do on hiding the gas flash off the end of the barrel. This is one I'm looking at:

i had one like above on my old para sks, cept the slots were on top. it did well on the recoil end of things and helped balance it since i had a folder on it...flash was still there.but honestly...its better than not having one at all.

Can the bayonet still be deployed?

        try this:

i wouldn't rely on the the set screws to hold it in place. I would get a fabricator//welder or gun smith to weld it on or I'd have a gunsmith thread the actual barrel to 14x1 LH. then I'd install a wolverine or a tapco/copes bird cage fs.

Depending on where he lives, he may need the ability to remove it in a hurry to be compliant with local laws.
Here in NY you cant have any compensators BUT, there are some out there that opt with the easily removable ones so while transporting or out in public shooting areas, they have a "compliant" weapon.

Thanks, I think that is the ticket. Some places charge as much for the adapter as they do for the flash hider. They seem to be more reasonable. I like the birdcage; most others like the performances.

also bill if you love shooting your sks like i do you want to get a new firing pin from a guy in tx. i'll need to look him up if you want it. but its the best pin you'll find out there for it. its been made to never slam fire or ever get stuck.

While we are on the subject of SKS, is there anything one can do with the trigger? Mine is not smooth and I have looked at other that are the same way.

Bill, my SKS (a Yugo) has a FAL T48 birdcage on it, works great. Sure changes the overall look of the rifle as well. edit- oops, didn't see the part about pinned flash hider, the T48 is a screw on type. Sorry!

                    Trigger solution-
