Stopped by a popular store in Jax yesterday.

There was a couple pretty Arsenal AK's sitting next to a Romanian. Their was no shortage of black rifles there. Small place, I think is in an old Shoney's type building, their had to be 80+ people in the store. Another guy waiting on help to look at one of the AK's said something about $1700. For the Arsenals or for the Romanian? If it's for the Arsenals that's probably not TOO bad (folding stock, sand color, etc.) Too far away to see more than that. Guy said he didn't know anything about AK's but wanted one. I told him he was a smart man... LOL Told him if the $1700. was for the Arsenal well then that's not too bad, but if the Romanian, well.... BOHICA

Finally a clerk came over, I looked at the pretty Arsenal- too bad it was .223. Asked him how much, said he would have to check, thought $1500. or so. Another clerk goes "dude, we are selling the ROMANIANS for $1,700. " I said don't worry about checking on the Arsenal price....
Boris- "He's famous, has picture on three dollar bill!"

Rocky- "Wow! I've never even seen a three dollar bill!"

Boris- "Is it my fault you're poor?"

Picked up a box of .45 at Wal-Mart on Friday, at the normal price. They had previously been sold out. They didn't have a lot of most calibers (and no .223), but they did have a bit of most things. Seemed to have a pretty good stock of shotgun shells. I didn't see any .22, but I didn't look too hard.

ETA: They did have a few "scary" looking black rifles, but I didn't ask about caliber.
The clerk was doing a gun sale, but there wasn't anyone besides me and the one guy buying.

At the rate things are going, I will probably never get me a scary black rifle. Had it on the agenda this tax season to allow $600-700 for a Russian mail order bride. But at the prices they are going for now, it aint happening.
I may buy some ninja stars instead.

My buddy said the Ruger .223 he was looking at THE DAY BEFORE THE CONN SHOOTINGS was $1200. He went back the next Friday when he got paid and it was over 3K.
        Now, its 4 grand.

From what I am hearing AK's are going for double even triple the price. Sorry, wont be doing it.
You know what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like this?

our wally world does a big ammo business.
at the gun show, i'm sure i saw wally ammo being sold.
          so..
i decided to check wally today and buy some for that gun i'm gonna get someday.
          --
they had no handgun ammo except for 2 boxes of 45 long colt.
they had about 2 or 3 boxes of 270
and a couple of boxes of 30-06
rifle ammo was ? about 26/box.

i asked if they had any in the back.
"no. " was the curt answer.
later this evening, i heard that one guy went in last night and bought $3,000 worth.

If you become familiar to those who work in the gun department at your WalMart, they might let you know when they restock the ammo. The two older gentlemen who work at the one I frequent are used to seeing hubby and I there now and know what we tend to buy. Ours restocks on Sunday nights. Still have yet to be able to get in there on Monday morning though to get anything.

I checked with one of the primary gun dealers in our area Ammo Depot and they were still selling AMD65 units for around $850. That is way up but no where near the prices I have seen elsewhere. I did go by Walmart yesterday and picked up both 9MM and 40 Cal for $12 and $15 per box respectively (50 Rounds each box) Some people are over the top and gun show prices are soaring out of sight. From what I hear Gun Shows are going to be history very soon. Universal background checks are for sure now. Also look for Ammo to go way up due to stopping the import of cheap ammo from Russia etc. If it were me I would be buying up parts to repair my guns in the future now. GB

We have a local rip-off shop in my town that is known and seen to have bought all the Walmart ammo of certain calibers and then he jacks up the price and sells it in his store. Since he is now the only local shop to have it IN STOCK, people buy it...
