well i didnt go with the MAK 90 afterall. I got a brand new FEG Hungary AK in 7.62x39 with folding stock and foregrip out the door for 4 bills. Just didnt know what those MAK 90's had been through so went with the other deal he offered me. I do alot of buisness there he had 685$ on the sticker on it.

Good or bad? paid cash out of savings so now after i pay back savings ill start stocking up on extra mags/bullets. Its alot prettier than the MAK90 LOL hopefully it shoots just as good.

Check aim surplus they run like new surplus x39 mags for under 10$ iirc.
you get a amd 65 clone or amd 63 clone?
either way the hungarian rifles are pretty decent ( specially the older romaks that were real deal AK's ( like the poly types 56's)

sides that your best choice would have been a vector with a fancy sticker ;p

If you really want a good AK buy a SAIGA...teh price iis right for a great gun and conversion is easy and relatively cheap. If money os NOT an ption, get an ARSENAL.

Might be getting this mixed up with the NHM91? Some of those came in with a little dimple of metal behind the magazine release. It's intent was to keep you using just the 5 round mags that came with it- yeah right.....

The drawbacks to the MAK 90 were a non threaded barrel, no bayo lug and that stupid thumbhole stock. Besides that, it was all the same as a Type 56 IIRC. They made them that way to get around the laws at the time.

correct. no barrel threads no bayonet lug and the buthole stock. however they take standard full capacity mags. also there are/were pin on 74 sytle muzzle brakes for them too.

Well, I was one of the lucky ones getting a sweet and reliable Romanian SAR-1. And I bought it from a friend who also knew it to be reliable... There are lots of good AK's out there for very fair prices.... compared to the Clinton era that is... Yes, it is dimpled at the mag well as it is covered...

lets us know how you like that front fore grip and coat hanger stock.
i know that 30 rnd mags could be an issue with that foregrip....again range report when ay put it to use..

                              here's my AMD65

it's an FEG from hungary. It shoots like a champ! It has the dimples in it so the magazine fits snug. Protus 30 round magazines go into it fine but it will take some muscle memory to do it smoothly with the foregrip in the way. In the Pic is a 20 rounder those go in fine without the foregrip slowing you down.

I actually like the foregrip. Now the folding stock aka wire is nice to have a folder but the wire doesnt give much of a cheek weld. They made an adapter for the AMD65 so you can put on a collapsible M4 style stock which is what i will do down the road. It ate Brown bear/wolf and norinco ammo (i didn't even know there was norinco ammo till the other day) without any problems. not a single jam nothing but rounds down range.

I read that the single weld on the attaching piece that attachs to the muzzle brake has a tendancy to break. I'll have it tacked a few more times with a mig welder next week. I'm really happy with it the fore grip is removable if you don't like foregrips.

Only other thing was sight picture was not fast. I need to borow some of the wife's fingernail polish and get the front sight in an orange or red to make aquireing the sight picture faster.

                              Im really happy with it.

cool deal. yeah the real hungarian imported ones are good to go.
you could also put on the stock adpater for a ACE side folder or straight stock set up.

if it has the metal amd fore grip you could mount a rail and get a stubby VFG that way you could move it forward a tad to solve the mag issue and not have to re train your muscle memeory.

                                just some ideads...
